The first big movie of the summer of 2012 rolls out. Marvel's "The Avengers" features all the big guns of the Marvel universe in one movie. I haven't been this excited about a movie in a long while. I think I find myself judging all superhero movies up against my personal favorite, "The Dark Knight". I thought the Iron Man movies were decent, the Captain Amercia movie was fun, the Thor movie was just ok. The 2 previous Hulk movies?...well, as anybody who personally knows me knows, the big green machine is my favorite. Those 2 movies were letdowns. But with Mark Ruffalo's take on "Bruce Banner" and what they did with the HULK in the Avengers movie, I can understand why they signed Ruffalo to a 6-picture deal with Marvel.
This movie is an epic, all out war. It moves along pretty quickly, and its what you would expect from a comic book movie featuring all the major players. Lots of egos, lots of character flaws, butting of heads, but some sort of way of coming together to fight alongside one another.
The dialogue was snappy and fun, just like the comic book would read. It will be fun to see how much more of these characters and movies they continue to crank out. But 6 more Hulk movies...fine by me.
